Illayaraja week!

The coming Friday (11th September 2009) belongs to the music maestro Illayaraja as 17 of his songs he has composed for two films ‘Prem Kahani’ and ‘Bagyadha Balegara’ are before the public on silver screen. This is for the first time so many songs of a music director that too from two of his films is surfacing for the eyes and ears of film audience.

According to one estimate the two films that are made in Rs.9 crores investment. For the songs composing and shooting plus post production of it to appear on the silver screen takes major share of more than 50 percent of the total investment.

The highly respected music director in Kannada cinema too maestro Illayaraja has scored eight songs of ‘Bagyadha Balegara’ starring hat trick hero Shivarajakumar and Navya Nair. ‘Prem Kahani’ has nine songs starring Ajay and Sheela of Paragu fame.

The film ‘Prem Kahani’ directed by R Chandru who had a big success from ‘Taj Mahal’ is produced by newcomers from Bellary KM Vishwanath and G Ravikumar. Chandrasekhar is the cameraman.

‘Bagyadha Balegara’ producer Ramesh Kashyap has one hit ‘Nanda Nanditha’ to his credit. He is hoping that his film would become another block buster like ‘Janumadha Jodi’. Shivarajakumar known for sentiment film has Navya Nair as his counterpart. Shivarajakumar’s debut film ‘Anand’ heroine Sudharani and ‘Hrudaya Hrudaya’ debut actress opposite Shivarajakumar – Anu Prabhakar have appeared in a song each of this village based cinema ‘Bagyadha Balegara’. Veteran Saiprakash has directed the film ‘Bagyadha Balegara’.
