The 2002 sleeper hit movie 'Charlie Chaplin' directed by Shakthi Chidambaram became the first to be remade in six Indian languages and becoming even bigger hits in the other langualges.  The film starred Prabhu, Prabhu Deva, Livingston, Abhirami, Gayathri Raghuram and Vindhya in lead roles.

The shooting of 'Charlie Chaplin 2' produced by Amma Creations T.Siva has been underway for the past few weeks with Prabhu Deva leading the cast with Nikki Galrani and Adah Sharma as the leading ladies.  Prabhu has just joined the project recently and portions involving him and the rest of the cast have started to be canned.  Shakthi Chidambaram gushed that it is a great feeling to have the veteran on board and also revealed that the story is not a continuation of the original.
