Legendary music director Ilaiyaraaja, who has composed music for more than 1000 movies in multiple languages, in a career spanning more than 4 decades celebrated his birthday yesterday, and fans all over the world were seen conveying their wishes.

However, not many know that yesterday (June 2) wasn't Ilaiyaraaja's actual birthday. Ilaiyaraaja's actual birthday is today (June 3), and he shares his birthday with another legend Kalaignar Karunanidhi, who had given him the title Isaignani.

As a honor to Karunanidhi, Ilaiyaraaja took the decision to celebrate his birthday on June 2. He had said an event that, June 3 is Kalaignar's birthday and that he's proud to share birthday with him. However he added that he hasn't done much services to Tamil as Kalaignar did, and hence only Kalaignar should be wished by people of Tamil Nadu on June 3, and so he decided to celebrate his birthday on June 2.
