Legendary music composer Ilayaraja, known for safeguarding his artistic rights, has sent a legal notice to Mythri Movie Makers for unauthorized use of his music in the upcoming movie Good Bad Ugly, starring Ajith. The 81-year-old maestro has a strong history of taking legal action against those using his work without proper permission.
As per reports, producers Naveen Yerneni and Yalamanchali Ravi Shankar allegedly used three of Ilayaraja’s iconic songs in the film without obtaining necessary approvals. The songs include ‘Illamai Idho Idho’ from the 1982 film Sakalakala Vallavan, ‘En Jodi Manja Kuruvi’ from Vikram (1986), and ‘Oththa Roova’ from the 1996 movie Nattupura Pattu.
Ilayaraja has demanded an official apology along with a compensation of Rs 5 crore from the production house for using his music without consent. This incident once again highlights the veteran composer’s commitment to protecting his creative work, making it clear that intellectual property rights must be respected, regardless of a project’s scale or popularity.
The producers have yet to respond publicly to the legal notice.
