Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan' is one of the biggest multistarrers ever in Tamil cinema boasting of the stellar cast of Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Jayaram, Parthiban, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Keerthy Suresh, Amala Paul and Amitabh Bachchan. Sathyaraj was in talks to play the important Pazhuvettaiyar character in the film but opted out due to scheduling conflicts.

Now we have received news that Ilaya Thilagam Prabhu has been brought on board to play Pazhuvettaiyar in 'Ponniyin Selvan'. Prabhu and Mani Ratnam are very close friends and have already collaborated in super hit films 'Agni Natchathiram', 'Anjali' and 'Ravanan'. This will be their fourth film together and the official announcement is expected pretty soon as shooting is likely to start in a few week's time.
