Ilaya Thilagam Prabhu, one of the prominent actors of Tamil cinema, has been admitted to a private hospital in Chennai after experiencing sudden illness. It is said that he suffered from unbearable stomach pain on Tuesday and was rushed to the hospital in Kodambakkam where he was treated.

The scans revealed stones in his kidney which were then removed with the help of urethroscopic laser endoscopy. The doctors of the Medway Hospital issued a statement that said that Prabhu is stable and is recovering from the surgery. He is expected to be discharged after a couple of days of bed rest.

Following this, fans and film industry celebrities are wishing Prabhu a speedy recovery on social media pages. The 66 year old star a veteran of over 215 films as a hero and character actor recently appeared in a prominent role in Thalapathy Vijay's 'Varisu'. His upcoming film is Mani Ratnam's multistarrer 'Ponniyin Selvan 2' in which he plays the role of Periya Velar Boothi Vikramakesari.
