Ravichandran (44) is a daily-wage labourer in Chennai. He has lost his parents and lives with his relatives. A few months ago, he started suffering from continuous cough and when his relatives took him to a doctor he diagnosed that Ravichandran was already a victim of cancer in its terminal stage.
The doctor had also advised his relatives to fulfill the last wish of Ravichandran as the possibilities of his survival are remote. Ravichandran who has been an ardent fan of Isaignani Ilaiyaraja`s music had apparently conveyed his wish to meet the legendary musician at least once in his life.
When Ilaiyaraja came to know about this he immediately gave his consent to meet his fan. Ravichandran was taken to Prasad Studios, the workplace of the maestro. During the meeting Ravichandran reportedly told Ilaiyaraja that the latter`s songs were the only source of solace in his life since the 1980s. The septuagenarian music director as well as the onlookers were moved to tears after hearing this and Raja gave a pat on the back of his fan as a mark of accepting his compliment.
