In a recent video statement, Ilayaraja has cautioned musicians who perform his songs without prior consent from him. He announced that he would initiate legal action against the offenders in case they failed to comply with the necessary procedures established by the law. However, it only applies to commercial concerts, and in case of a free concert, royalty can’t be sought by him.

The legendary music director, despite not being a member of the IPRS, seeks to act through the South Indian Film Music Artistes’ association.
