IIT Madras student stabs classmate over proposal to same girl

A second-year postgraduate student of IIT Madras allegedly stabbed his classmate on the shoulder after a fight broke out between the duo over a girl they had both been intending to propose to on Valentine’s Day.
The accused, identified as Manoj, assaulted and stabbed the victim, Pramod Kaushik, near the central library of the campus, apparently. “Around 5.30 pm, a clash broke out between the duo near the central library. In a fit of rage, Manoj stabbed Pramod on the shoulder with a sharp object and fled the spot. Other students who witnessed the incident rushed the victim to the hospital, where he is currently under treatment in the ICU,” an investigating officer reported.
The accused has been detained by the police for an inquiry while the victim is currently under treatment. Further details will reportedly be revealed following the investigation.
