The International Film Festival of Kerala commences on December 9 and winds up on December 16. It is a celebration of films and films buffs of Kerala during this period hop from one theatre to another to watch their favorite films. This year it showcases 184 films both national and international in 10 sections.

The festival`s official pass distribution ceremony was kick-started in a function held at Tagore theatre on Wednesday. A. K. Balan, minister of culture handed over the first delegate pass to actress Manju Warrier. As part of Transgender Friendly initiative, thereafter Manju Warrier gave delegate pass to transgender activist Sheetal Shyam.

The film festival is organized by Kerala State Chalachitra Academy for the Cultural Affairs Department of the Kerala Government. Director Kamal who is the chairman of Chalachitra Academy said this time the festival is having record number of Delegates. Another attraction of this year`s film festival is that there is a folk festival arranged showcasing various folk arts performed by 150 artists.
