It's being rumoured that Malayalam superstar Mammootty has been enlisted to play Akhil Akkineni’s antagonist in 'Agent'. Helmed by Surender Reddy, the spy thriller will commence its shoot in July.

The rumour that Mammootty is the villain in 'Agent' is ostensibly false. It's because the 'Yatra' actor famously rejected a negative role opposite Pawan Kalyan in 2008. This was revealed by producer Allu Aravind himself in 2019. When Allu Aravind called up the Mollywood actor with the offer (presumably for 'Jalsa'), Mammootty straightly asked him if he would offer a negative character to Megastar Chiranjeevi. "Would you ask Chiranjeevi to play such a role?" Mammootty asked Aravind. "No, sir!" replied the producer, tendering an apology. This was narrated by the Geetha Arts supremo himself.
When Mammootty didn't like playing a villain in Power Star's movie, would he go for an Akhil movie? The jury is still out.
'Agent', rumouredly modelled on the lines of 'The Bourne' series, has the story by Vakkantham Vamsi. Thaman is on board to compose music.
