Since rumors started circulating last week, there has been speculation about the delay of Sukumar's highly-anticipated action thriller, Pushpa: The Rule, from its initially announced release date of August 15. Lead actor Allu Arjun has now officially confirmed that the release of Pushpa 2, the sequel to the film, has indeed been postponed and has a new release date.

On Monday evening, Allu Arjun took to his official handle and shared a new poster of Pushpa 2: The Rule. The poster showcased Allu Arjun in his iconic role as Pushpa Raj, wearing a grey t-shirt and a brown shirt over it, with a matching bandana on his head. He held a sword in his hand, resting threateningly on his shoulder. Allu gazed into the camera, sporting a fierce expression. In his caption, he announced, "#Pushpa2TheRule in cinemas from December 6th, 2024."

Fans have been eagerly awaiting updates on the status of Pushpa 2, particularly as other films have announced their release dates for August 15. While Pushpa 2 was originally set to clash with Rohit Shetty's Bollywood cop drama Singham Again and Nikkhil Advani's action thriller Vedaa, recent additions to the lineup include Khel Khel Mein starring Akshay Kumar, and Puri Jagannadh's sci-fi action film Double iSmart. It was later clarified that Jio Studios had shifted the release of Singham Again to Diwali and announced that their horror comedy Stree 2 would now release on August 15.

Pushpa 2: The Rule is the direct sequel to Sukumar's 2021 Telugu blockbuster, Pushpa: The Rise. The first part introduced Allu Arjun as the anti-hero, Pushpa Raj, with Rashmika Mandanna playing his love interest, Srivalli. Fahadh Faasil's character was teased at the end of the first film, indicating a more significant role in the sequel. Pushpa: The Rise also featured Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the popular dance number, Oo Antava Oo Oo Antava.

The first part of Pushpa depicted power struggles within the world of red sandalwood smuggling, skillfully directed by Sukumar. Allu Arjun received a National Film Award for his exceptional performance in the film.
