Some of the sequels are simply boring and then there are some of them that you can’t wait to see, ICE AGE is one such among them with a wondrous screenplay, a colorful end of the world phenomenon set in natural milieu long long ago with a freakishly amazing cast, does it get better? Since the first of the franchise released in 2002, the characters have come a long way from just being the unusual herd and have rather evolved into a fun loving bunch of animals with an unusual lifestyle of escaping the end of the world phenomenon.

As usual the movie’s X factor is Scrat and his tireless love for the acorn, his means to safeguard it with his entire strength and how he falls in vain, now that always happens somewhere else while the herd headed by Manny happens in a different place. After seeing various end of the world situations in all the previous parts, it’s time for the meteorite to enter the scenario. Somehow, when vying to get his hands on the elusive nut, Scrat finds himself in space, setting off a cosmic set of events that lead to an unforgiving meteor, which is bulleted directly at Earth, threatening the lives of Manny (Ray Romano), Sid (John Leguizamo) and Diego (Denis Leary). As in the previous part the character of Buck is back, who tries to alert them of the forecoming threat and how he plays savior or the odd man out is yet another story.

Director Mike returns from the previous flick in trying to revive the magic back, the movie tirelessly goes on about the escaping ventures of the herd but has the same baseline when it comes to plot, run away from the mad end of the world only to face weirdos and even more danger, how they overcome is as always the rest of the story. When danger is almost on the prowl, we see that the mammoths are too busy playing ice hockey and worrying about family matters to pay much attention to the coming apocalypse. Sid the sloth’s attention is more on romance than the likelihood of imminent death.

As always is the tradition in the ICE AGE franchise, new characters are introduced into the movie along with the retained cast. There's also a host of new and colorful hippy characters, such as a pondering llama called Shangri Llama, and Sid's love interest, Brooke with whom he shares his endless romeo gimmicks. So with an hour and 40 minutes in the show, there is enough characters around which the screenplay roams around, not to mention the wedding that our hero Mammoth Manny tries to contemplate and the very much humane touch to the emotions takes the movie to an all new level, maybe best to keep the franchise going.

The graphics, VX and visualization has come a long way since the first one and the makers have ensured the 3D viewing does not come as a rather nosy viewing and instead made it more comfortable, especially for the kids who should enjoy the film by all means. Watching it in Tamil should be equally fun for the dubbing is hilarious as shown in the trailer with eccentric voice overs for the characters. Like previous Ice Age films, Collision Course will appeal to young kids, although here there's not quite as much humor for adults to enjoy among the chaotic storytelling.

As much as you tend to enjoy the movie in your nearby multiplexes with 3D viewing and fantasizing the characters, if you are an adult you surely would feel that the franchise should either evolve with something new or maybe end it in this glorious way, for a kid it wouldn’t matter for all the fun loving sequences along with an enjoyable ride of animation is on its way, that said Ice Age in its 5th chapter has done its part, i.e entertain us with apt screenplay and humor.
