A report by the Intelligence Bureau of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs says that Tamil superstar Rajinikanth might become the next chief-minister of the State as he enjoys widespread support of the people and his fans.
An official who didn’t want to be named said “The present fluid political scenario in the State is looked at avidly by the rest of the country. Though an AIADMK Govt. is in place, it is not thought of as a Govt. supported by the people as people voted for the regime in 2016 only because of Jayalalithaa’s campaign. In this backdrop, the Bureau conducted a survey to find out the people’s mood in case of interim Assembly polls.
“89% of those surveyed expressed their dissatisfaction about the Govt. as well as EPS, OPS, Dinakaran and the party. 80% of those surveyed said they would never vote again for the AIADMK. DMK, on the other hand, doesn’t enjoy wholesome support as only 46% of those surveyed said they would vote for the party. 32% said they were ready to support a celebrity’s entry in olitics.
“4% and 9% supported Kamal Haasan and Vijay. 19% of those surveyed said they would vote for Rajini as CM if he was serious in entering politics; this is viewed as significant as Rajini enjoys almost one-fifth of the people’s support even when he is not in politics. If Rajini chooses to enter politics with the right allies, he might even become the chief-minister of the State,” said the official adding that only 6% of those surveyed expressed their support to the BJP.
