IAS officer climbs Everest for a cause

Young IAS officer Ravindra Kumar is in the news for a noble cause. He recently scaled the Mt. Everest with an environmental and social purpose in mind.
Ravindra Kumar climbed the peak with Ganga water in his hand. The reason he carried the river water is that he wanted to drive home this pertinent message: River water needs to be saved from pollution. This is topical
at a time when saving rivers is one of the most urgent needs of the hour.
The IAS officer is also one of the very few Indians to have climbed the peak from both Nepal and China routes. In 2013, Ravindra climbed from Nepal (south) route and now in 2019 he has successfully climbed from China
(north) route, Amitabh Kant of NITI Ayog says.
