IAF pilot Abhinandan, who has been making the headlines the last week owing to his extreme courage and bravery in the face of danger at Pakistan under their Army’s custody, is the talk of the town now, even as netizens have been pouring their admiration on the Wing Commander. His popularity naturally led to a few users creating fake accounts in the name of Abhinandan.
The official Twitter handle of the Indian Air Force, however, confirmed in a post that Abhinandan does not hold an account in any of the social media websites. In addition to that, they listed a number of fake accounts that pretended to be the pilot, requesting people to avoid spreading any kind of misinformation in regards to the air warrior.
“#FAKE ACCOUNTS: Wg Cdr Abhinandan Varthaman does not have a social media account on any portal (Facebook /Instagram /Twitter). Please avoid following any fake accounts being used in the name of any IAF Airwarrior for spreading misinformation. Jai Hind!!!” the Indian Air Force’s post read.
Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was captured by the Pakistani Army on February 27 after his MiG-21 Bison fighter jet was hit by Pakistan Air Force jets near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. He was returned to India at the Attari-Wagah border at 9.15 pm on March 1 upon Pakistan PM Imran Khan’s orders.
