If Soundarya and Ramya Krishna were devotionally inspired by Kodi Ramakrishna's Ammoru, so too Anushka was similarly exalted while working for Damarukam.

"I have been a devotee of Lord Shiva since my childhood days. Rather than as an artist, I worked for the film like a devotee. This is as big a role as Arundhati was. Shooting for the film, I was reminded of my childhood days. I was not scared by Pasupathi’s character in Arundhati. But Andhakasura's role in Damarukam scared me a lot," she said.

She said she felt happy to have worked with Srinivas Reddy.
