Akkineni Nagarjuna on Friday said that May 22 and May 23 will always be special to him. It’s on these dates that ‘Annamayya’ and ‘Manam’, respectively, hit the screens. If the former arrived in 1997, the latter was a 2014 release.
“Two dates I cannot forget may 22nd and may 23rd. Release dates of two Unforgettable classic movies #annamaya #manam (sic),” the ‘Manmadhudu-2’ actor wrote on Twitter.
Earlier in the day, K Raghavendra Rao, who directed the 1997 devotional classic, said, “Just a day before my birthday, I recall how 23 years ago today, a very special film released. #Annamayya is a film I will cherish all my life and I thank the almighty for giving me the opportunity to make a film on his divine existence.” He profusely thanked Nag, Mohan Babu, Suman (who played Lord Venkateswara), Ramya Krishna, Kasturi, writer Bharavi and music director MM Keeravani in a tweet.
‘Manam’, directed by Vikram Kumar, was ANR’s last movie, a reason why Nag is so emotional about it.
