I will do Telugu movie: Mani Ratnam

The team of ‘Villain’, the new movie from ace director Mani Ratnam, met the press here in Hyderbad on Monday. The team comprising of Mani Ratnam, Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Suhasini and Priya Mani met the press to promote the movie and this is where the director told he would do a Telugu movie soon.

Talking on the occasion, Mani Ratnam was sad that lyricist Veturi was no more. Mani even told that his relationship with Veturi dated back from his ‘Geethanjali’. In fact the title ‘Ravana’ was not available in Telugu and hence it was Veturi who suggested ‘Villain’ as title, Mani Ratnam revealed. Mani said that he was already missing Veturi.

Talking about the movie, Mani said, “You will have to see the movie to decide if the ‘Villain’ of this movie is good or bad person. I do not want to say that this movie belongs to a specific genre. ‘Villain’questions us on who we are to judge on who is right and who is wrong. Vikram is a terrific actor and as always Aishwarya has been a pleasure to work with” and concluded saying he would do a Telugu movie soon.

Speaking on the occasion, Aishwarya spoke about her character in the movie. Her character’s name is ‘Ragini’ who is a classical dancer with a variety of emotions. She also told that besides the ‘Villain’, her character is central. Finally she added saying that if time permitted she would act in Mani Ratnam’s Telugu movie.

Vikram was ecstatic to be part of Mani Ratnam’s project. He told that it was his dream to work with the ace director. Besides dubbing in Tamil and Hindi, Vikram has dubbed for the Telugu version as well. He thanked all of them who helped him while working in this movie. He also said that the movie has shaped up exceedingly well.

Priya Mani was overjoyed as well to work with Mani Ratnam. Priya Mani is making her Bollywood debut through the Hindi version ‘Raavan’. She thanked the director for giving her entry into Bollywood. Suhasini Mani Ratnam added that the entire team has worked hard for the movie. She has penned the dialogues for the Tamil version and hoped the movie will be liked by the Telugu audience.

‘Villain’ is releasing this Friday on 18th June. Mani Ratnam, A R Rahman, Aishwarya Rai, Vikram, look at the team, it is sure to rock the box office!
