In his emotional, high-pitched Kakinada address, christened as Seemandhrula Atma Gaurava Sabha, actor and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan asked the crowd if he should leave cinema. In his usual style, he said that if were to stop acting, he would have no money to survive. "I don't have any desire to make millions by acting in movies. If you ask me to leave cinema, I will do it happily", he said. The crowd shouted saying a resounding 'No'.

Later in the speech, he said that he supported the BJP-TDP combine in the run up to the 2014 General and Assembly Elections at the cost of going against the wishes of his brother (who is with the Congress), his mother, and his sisters. "I campaigned for the NDA by not only going against the wishes of my brother and other family members, but also by risking my life", he said. In an hour-long speech, Pawan many times harped on the "injustice" meted out to Seemandhra and Telangana people over the years. He made it a point to slam Venkaiah Naidu, the BJP stalwart who rose to become a biggie as a local student leader during the Jai Andhra Movement in early 1970s. He took potshots at the Congress and the BJP for dividing the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh and giving the Seemandhra region a raw deal. He slammed the AP state political leadership for failing to put up an effective, united front in the Parliament in the cause of Special Category Status.
