Tusshar Kapoor is certain he will be noticed this time - with his vanishing act in upcoming movie "Gayab".
"People are tired of the same old stories. The audiences now want something new," said Tusshar who was here to promote the film.
"Just look at 'Koi Mil Gaya'. 'Gayab' too is a science fiction love story. I feel the audience today is crying out for something other than the same, regular movies."
Taking a cue from 1987's "Mr India", the super-hit film starring Anil Kapoor and Sridevi, "Gayab" is the story of a man who gets noticed only after he learns the trick of becoming invisible.
"Gayab" revolves around Vishnu Prasad (played by Tusshar Kapoor) who has always been a loser.
With a nagging mother breathing down his neck, friends who ridicule him and a love interest who isn't even aware of his existence, things change dramatically till one defining incident that renders him invisible.
"Everyone, including the most glamorous of people, has an underdog in them," said Kapoor, who was speaking at Hotel Vasant Continental.
Dressed simply in a blue-white printed shirt and jeans, he said, "Even I used to get bullied as a kid by my seniors, both in school and in my building. That is why I feel that kids, especially, would love the movie.
"But then again, it is all an experiment and we are taking a chance," he conceded. The movie is set for release all over the country July 16.
Kapoor, currently working on "Sipahi" and "Kya Kool Hai Hum", is largely identified with college boy roles.
"I felt the new character would do me good. I needed something different and challenging, something out of the mould from what I had been doing.
"I had a great time doing the movie. It was different because this was the first time I was doing a science fiction.
"Also to portray the character of a total simpleton, I browsed through the Internet and watched as many movies about the theme as I could."
Also starring actress Antara Mali, the film has been produced by renowned film director Ram Gopal Varma and K. Sera Sera, and directed by Prawaal Raman.
