Decades after 'Mandaladeeshudu' created controversy because it allegedly portrayed the legendary NT Rama Rao in poor light, Kota Srinivasa Rao recollected an anecdote
"A few months after the film's release, I was to Bejawada to pay a visit to my daughter's house. On the same day, NTR garu was visiting the town to inaugurate a marriage hall. Everywhere, I saw TDP flags aflutter. Ee time lo Bejawada vachanu enti anukunna! When I reached the bus station, a cabal of activists pounced on me and beat me up. I was forced to lie on the floor and then beaten up," Kota said in his latest interview.
"NTR garu was a great man, who brought glory to Telugu people. He was a legend. Most people felt that 'Mandaladeeshudu' was improper. I shouldn't have done that movie. I was new to the industry. Krishna garu and others advised me against doing such movies. Since I am a good actor, the film didn't affect my career. Later on, NTR garu happened to appreciate me, saying I am a good actor. I immediately fell on his feet and took his blessings," Kota recalled.
