30 years and over 175 films later, Jackie Shroff is finally enacting a character that he has never played before.
In his upcoming film 'Cover Story', he is playing the role of a journalist. Though one would have expected that it would have been a tough call for him to catch nuances of this profession, Jackie Shroff throws a pleasant surprise by stating that he was well aware of the professional challenges that come in due to the fact that journalism runs in his family.
"For me it was a very personal feeling to play a journalist in 'Cover Story' since my father was a journalist. I used to see him to go to work, tell us stories, narrate incidents etc.
Later, not many know, that even I used to write for my website and that too way back in 1993 when internet was in it's infancy not just in India but worldwide. That was close to 20 years back", reveals the veteran actor.
While one thought that the trend was initiated by Amitabh Bachchan when he started writing his daily blogs, Jackie Shroff says that he was quite a regular on internet and used to jot down his day to day activities in the form of a diary, something which helped him approach the role of a journalist in the film.
"Back then I used to think about everything that I saw in the day or acted on the sets and then used to write about it", he adds, "That experience came in handy during 'Cover Story' as well since I could relate to them life of a journalist."
Come 12th October and we would know how well does this 'Cover Story' indeed translate on the big screen.
