Thalapathy Vijay was awarded for the best actor in a recently held awards function. Interestingly the actor let out that he knew beforehand that his dialogues in 'Mersal' would be a cause for controversy.

Expressing his joy on receiving the award on an important Tamil festive day for a movie which heavily showcased the strength of Tamil culture, Vijay also stated his thanks for all the people and fans who supported him during political angst on 'Mersal'.

He also stated that he spoke those controversial dialogues only as it was essential and not merely to stir controversy. Kamal, who handed the award to him also stated that Vijay will get more such awards in the future as well. Sure this award to Thalapathy Vijay comes off as a celebratory and joyous occasion for fans.
