Ahead of 'Bigg Boss-2' going on air from June 10, Natural Star Nani on Monday met the press in Hyderabad. He patiently took all questions and answered in his own way.
"Just as everybody is saying that 'Bigg Boss-1' had set a benchmark, I would like the second season too to be seen as a benchmark thing when the third season begins," Nani says. "I have been called the guy-next-door for 10 years now. With 'Bigg Boss-2', I am going to be in your house. It's a promotion for me," the 'MCA' actor notes.
Has he taken tips from NTR, his predecessor? "I have promised him that I will watch all his episodes. As for tips, Tarak himself has asked me not to follow any. I will follow neither Salman Khan nor Tarak in doing the show my way. I haven't watched Hindi-language 'Bigg Boss' at all. I will do the show the way I have understood it. I see it as a big responsibility," Nani avers.
What about the much-touted 'konchem masala ekkuva' thing? "This reality show is meant to be clean entertainment for the family audience. When I am doing it, obviously, my parents too will watch it. I want the show to be clean. And there is going to be a message at the end of every episode. Once all the episodes are over, I am confident that the viewers will learn something or the other," Nani promises.
There was a time when Nani would mock at his cousins for watching the reality show! "I myself am hosting it now! Everywhere, people are talking about this show. It has got a great reach. I took it up as a challenge when it came my way. I couldn't resist it," he says.
Nani is happy that Hyderabad itself is the venue. "Poor Tarak had to air dash to Pune every weekend. I don't have to do that. Luckily, the Sriram Aditya movie I am doing with Nagarjuna garu is purely Hyderabad-based. I haven't had to reschedule my films for this show," Nani reveals.
"My cinematographer Karthik (a regular for his films) once told me that an actor should never give his best in the first take. The technicians need space to adjust lighting, etc. So, I give my best the second time. I hope it's the same with Season 2 of 'Bigg Boss' as far as I am concerned," the actor adds.
The host claims, "I have not been approached by anybody with a recommendation to be selected for the reality show. They know I never entertain recommendations."
Who is the big boss in his life? "It's the audience. They have decided everything," he says.
Would he ever have been a Bigg Boss participant if given a chance? "I was in the Himalayas for 42 days, entirely cut off from my family and friends. So, soul-searching is over for me. I don't need to be a Bigg Boss participant. As for the show's participants, I hope everybody who goes into that house will come back as a better person," Nani says with confidence.
NTR made chicken for the contestants during Season 1. What is Nani going to do? "I don't know how to make even Omlette. May be, we will take the help of Tarak once again," he jokes.
What about remuneration? "Remuneration has played as much role in me accepting this show as it plays in me accepting a film. The remuneration doesn't change with the number of episodes," he reveals
