Anaika Soti talks to indiaglitz about her childhood fantasies, journey into showbiz, glam show and experience of working for 365 Days.

How did you come into showbiz ?

Like every girl at some point of time might have thought of becoming an actress. I did not have anyone in the industry so I was a stranger to showbiz. One day, Ram Gopal Varma spotted me on an elevator and I became an actress (smiles). I know it's weird but yes.

How did the acting bug bite you ?

I studied for over 10 years in Panchgani but was never exposed to media glare. I did not even watch films before that because in the hostel we were not allowed to watch any Hindi films. We were allowed to watch only devotional films (laughs) and I was in that kind of mood. After that I went to Malaysia for Mass Communications program (plus 2) in Malaysia where I watched Tamil films because half of the population was Tamil and I liked the South Indian flavor. The first South Indian film I watched was Anniyan (Aparichitudu). Later I came back to Mumbai and RGV spotted me.

For Satya 2, you received flak for your performance. What did you think ?

I said it's OK because even I think you guys were right (laughs). I think I did not do well. I was happy because critically what people said was true now after this film they say the same; then I wanna kill them (laughs) because I worked hard and I hope you guys like it.

What do u like about RGV that made you work for the second time ?

RGV was the one who first believed in me when I was nothing at all and he was the one who introduced me to showbiz world. So if he knew my talent, no matter whatever script he has, without any second thought I'm going to sign the project. He discovered me.

People say that you were ready for the glam show at a very early stage

I think sometimes even girls in their first film itself get into glamour thing. So now this is my third film and I think it's pretty ok (smiles), but at the same time I'm not ok to expose too much. I'm happy with where I am.

What kind of a girl are you

I'm exactly the girl what I am now. I talk a lot, I'm very interactive and also annoy people a lot. I'm an adventurous girl and would love to go for such sports. I like watching movies, I love travelling and meeting people from different walks of life.

Three films in three languages. What's the difference you obverse?

There's a lot of difference. Tamil industry is more delayed and laid back, they take they own time. For my Tamil film, I have waited for several hours to mouth my dialogues. Or maybe because I worked with RGV sir, I expected everyone to be on their toes.

Any interesting moments on the sets?

For 365 days, I shot for 48 hours continuously for a rain song (Andaniki Nirvachanam) I could not believe that actor's life could be so miserable. I neither ate nor had water out of nervousness. They kept on pouring water on me several times. Then I actually thought “Where am I right now…what is this”. But I knew what I was doing was totally worth it and that was when I realized that I actually want to become an actor.

Are you a party animal?

I'm not social and I'm not a party animal but in this industry it's important you socialize with people. But I'll not go to social events when I'm called unless there are people I know. I think that's the reason why I'm not doing many films

Any childhood fantasies

Shahid Kapoor! In school it was only him because I love dancing. So Shahid and Allu Arjun are my favorite

We heard that you are foodie and obsessed with sweets

I love sweets. Anything on earth in sweet you give me I will everything. And that's the reason why you can see me put on weight for this 365 Days film. Now I'm losing weights (laughs). No one asked me to put on weight but I have to admit that I ate a lot of chocolates, pizzas, etc. Hyderabadi chicken Biryani is my favorite, I love dum biriyani. It was Sarwanand who made me go for it during Satya 2 shooting and I fell in love with it.

Three things which we don't know about u

I'm not a social buff. I'm very creative and I'm a painter. I love dancing a lot although I haven't grooved much in my films. I love cooking and it's my passion. I also like fashion designing and in this film, I have designed my own wardrobe.
