Despite being a typical mainstream Bollywood star, Varun Dhawan does not shy away from trying something offbeat every now and then. Films like 'Badlapur', 'October' are proof that he can do lot more than just masala movies. Last Friday, Varun's much anticipated horror comedy 'Bhediya' was released and it has garnered amazing box office numbers so far. The actor sees this as a proof that well executed new concepts can find success in today's time.
Speaking at a IIFA press conference, Varun said, “A lot of people like to forget this, but I have done films like Badlapur and October pretty early on in my career. So I have always wanted to take risks, push the envelope. Bhediya is… I mean I am playing a wolf; it doesn’t get more different than that."
The actor further added, “To do that and have so many reviewers and audience members get convinced that something like this can be pulled off, I think is a big feat for the industry, for Amar, Dino (Dinesh Vijan), Jio Studios, who backed the film. It is exciting when someone from India backs something like that, we should never stop doing that."
Talking about future, Varun will be seen alongside Janhvi Kapoor in the film 'Bawaal'.
