Season 2 of 'Parampara' is coming out. Disney + Hotstar will stream the same from July 21. Starring Naveen Chandra, Jagapathi Babu, Sarath Kumar, Aakanksha Singh, Naina Ganguly and others, the series is directed by Krishna Vijay L and Viswanath Arigela. Produced by Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni, the political family thriller is going to be more intense in the second season.
In this interview, actor Naveen Chandra talks about his role in the series, how it is different from the usual stuff, and more.
The actor is doing at least two major film projects: RC15 and NBK108.
Highlights of his interview:
I have been craving this phase in my career for a long time. Be it a lead role, a character role or a negative role, I have wanted to do them all. Since 'Bhanumathi Ramakrishna', I have been doing projects continuously. I have to thank Jr NTR garu for endorsing me at the pre-release event of 'Aravindha Sametha'. He praised my performance and a lot of offers started coming my way. The directors/producers are ready to explore me as an actor. I have been seen as an artist rather than anything. It's not about how big or small I am. In the last couple of years, I have been on set every single day.
People are liking my work. My next film owes itself to my work in the previous films. In 'Nenu Local', they wanted me to look in a particular way. I have been flitting between positive and negative roles. I have not been typecast.
In 'Parampara', I have got to play a complex character. Usually, a web series has a hero who does everything. In 'Parampara', there are six equally strong characters, all of whom have grey shades. They make the story stronger. As you know from the first season, the series deals with the politics of legacy. There is a revenge aspect and how a son fights for his father to regain lost glory is the crux. Sarathkumar garu's character is even stronger in the second season.
It was Ram Charan garu who released the trailer of the first season. After the series started streaming, I was clueless for a week as to whether it was a hit or not. I didn't know whether I was right in opting for a series. Slowly, it dawned upon me that the series was a hit. On YouTube and other social media platforms, I realized that people gave me positive feedback. The viewers liked the suspense element in the series. The second season is going to be even more gripping.
More than analysts/film critics, I go by the audience's feedback. If the audience feel that my role should have been larger in 'Virata Parvam', I respect that opinion.
I am happy when I give what is expected of me. I am prompt and deliver what is expected of me. In the case of 'Virata Parvam' and 'Ghani', people have loved my performance and character.
I believe in working with my directors to gauge the meter and zone of my character. It's my responsibility to give my best no matter how many films/projects I am doing at a given point in time. There can't be an excuse.
The audience are these days vocal about their opinions about a film, a performance. My very first film didn't do well at the box office. I received setbacks and could have left the film industry forever. But I held onto the game. After all, 'Andala Rakshasi' gave me the confidence that I can act. Even today, I am noticed in the Hindi film industry because of that film. A very big casting director recently contacted me after watching 'AR' and offered me a Bollywood movie. Since my first film, I have played a variety of roles but man people love me in that film the most.
Coming to remunerations, the fee is higher for web series when more dates are allotted by the actor. I have no unreal expectations about what I should be paid for an assignment.
The OTT culture has been a sudden shift in terms of the audience's mindset. The span of entertainment has increased. Six months back, it seemed as if the audience had quit OTT and started embracing theatres. And now, they are back to OTT. This might change with Dasara and Deepavali releases this year.
