Speaking at the audio release function of 'Khakee', Karthi said that the film is quite an exciting script.
"This is the second time that I am playing a cop. The first time I did, it was in the Tamil remake of 'Vikramarkudu'. It's 'Siruthai', which was a big hit in Tamil. And when I read the script of this film, 'Khakee', I had a 'Magadheera'-like shock feeling. The film is based on a series of true incidents. When I was doing 'Siruthai', I had met a number of cops, who told me about some real-life incidents about a dacoity. Those incidents are the basis of this film," Karthi said.
About the film's director, H Vinoth, the hero said, "His first film, 'Sethuranga Vettai', is such a nice one. Ever since I watched it, I had been wanting to team up with him. A professor easily conned someone of Rs. 40 lacs. Vinoth depicted such real-life episodes in his debut. In 'Khakee', my character has been written in a realistic way. It's assumed by many that cops have limitless powers. In fact, they work under severe restrictions. You may have watched my brother shout at his seniors in his films (referring to 'Singham' series), but in real life, such things never happen."
Karthi was all praise for Ghibran's music. "If you listen to the three songs at night, you will fall in love with them," he said.
"I am ready to do Telugu films. After 'Oopiri', the warm I have received is even greater," he signed off.
