Allu Sirish is bracing up for 'Srirastu Subhamastu', his first full-fledged family entertainer, which is slated for an Aug 5 release. In this chit-chat, the Mega hero talks about the film's subject, working with Lavanya, Prakash Raj and Rao Ramesh, when he will do mass films, how he ended up being an actor and more. Read on..
On the subject:
Srirastu Subhamastu` is a family entertainer and a love film. It`s about the travails faced by the boy in fructifying his love toward the girl. Although the story line is simple, the narration is very refreshing. The scenes involving the hero-father duo and the heroine-father duo are very interesting.
On working with Lavanya Tripathi:
I haven`t watched any of her films, including Andala Rakshasi`. She was selected after an audition. Right from the third day, I knew choosing her was the right decision. She is a very natural actor.
On his character:
My character`s name is Sirish. I am a guy-next-door youth, who pulls the heroine`s legs and does some naughty things.
On working with seasoned actors:
It is we who think of Prakash Raj garu and Rao Ramesh garu as senior actors. But they don`t behave like one. They behave as if they are new to acting. The approach their work with that attitude and work very hard to give their best shot. We were very determined to be good in the scenes involving them.
On the title Srirastu Subhamastu`:
When we were thinking of the right title, we chanced upon a Kannada TV serial by this name. Some of us felt it would be an apt title. I learnt from Megastar`s fans that it`s the title of a Chiranjeevi film. When I proposed the title to my team, they at first felt it`s too soft. But I convinced them.
On working with Parusuram:
As Chiranjeevi garu said, his dialogue-writing is very good. He guided me so well.
On Chiranjeevi`s Bommarillu` comparison:
I don`t understand why Chiranjeevi garu compared the film with Bommarillu`. When I heard the script, it was Dilwale Dulhaniya Lejayenge` which came to my mind.
On involvement in production:
When nanna garu and Bunny Vasu garu are there, why would I interfere? As an actor, I must and did focus on acting.
On Allu Arjun`s support:
He has always been there to support me. We narrated the script to him before the shoot. After the first copy was ready, he was shown the film. His suggestions were implemented because we felt they are appropriate.
On how he ended up being an actor:
Even as a child, I wanted to make films as my vocation. However, I was not sure what I should do here. I learnt editing and cut the promos for Jalsa`. Afterwards, I learnt direction in the US, but felt that it was not my cup of tea. Then, I participated in story sittings and production works for Aamir Khan`s Ghajini`. Later on, I developed interest in acting. After Gowravam` and Kottha Janta`, I have learnt that I should do only those roles that suit me.
On his hobbies:
I like to travel a lot. I like to read, try different styles of dressing and gadgets. I also watch a lot of movies. I watch some of them repeatedly.
On doing mass movies:
It`s true that audiences expect mass movies from Mega heroes. But the thing is that I can`t be in a hurry. Bunny didn`t do mass movies from day one. I am biding my time. I don`t want to do Sarrainodu`-kinda films at this point of time. I am someone who likes a 100% Love`, a Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu`. There have been many mass and horror flicks in the last two years. Srirastu Subhamastu` is coming at this time.
On his next movie:
It`s quite distinct. There is a villain, it`s an episodic narration. There are mass elements, but the movie is not a mass film in toto. The hero`s characterization is dynamic.
