Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar is known for often starring in films which highlight social issues prevalent in the Indian society. As of now, he is gearing up for the release of his film 'Raksha Bandhan' which is also based on a similar theme. In a recent event in London, Akshay was asked whether he has any interest in joining politics.
In response, the actor told PTI, "I am very happy making films... As an actor, I do whatever possible to take up social issues. I have produced 150 films, the one nearest to my heart is ‘Raksha Bandhan’. I produce commercial films, sometimes with social issues. I produce three-four films a year."
Akshay's upcoming film 'Raksha Bandhan' deals with the malpractice of dowry and during its trailer launch event, the actor had stated, "While doing films, I just don't speak about the problem. I also look for solutions. There is a solution in ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, ‘Padman’ and many more. Likewise, there is a solution to Dahej in this film Raksha Bandhan. There is an answer to what we, and our society, should do. The film will give the solution to the problem.”
Directed by Anand L Rai, 'Raksha Bandhan' is set to release theatrically on 11th of August.
