It has been alleged that the release date of 'Karthikeya 2' was pushed multiple times because Dil Raju was working behind the scenes to stall its release. On Tuesday, at the film's success event in Hyderabad, the producer asked the media to shut up.
"After my film 'Thank You' got postponed from July 8 to July 22, I rang up the producers of 'Karthikeya 2', asking them if they would be willing to lend the latter date for our film. On that occasion, both Nikhil Siddhartha and Chandoo Mondeti came down to meet me. The discussion between us was healthy," Raju began saying, adding that producers in Tollywood always taken consensual decisions to avoid clashes.
"Nikhil and Chandoo told me they will postpone their film. I thanked both. Abhishek Agarwal and Vivek Kuchibotla, the producers of 'Karthikeya 2', later showed interest to release their film on Aug 5. I advised them against it because I had a hunch that both 'Bimbisara' and 'Sita Ramam' were going to do well. 'Karthikeya 2' was then pushed to the subsequent week after it was known that Vikram's 'Cobra' got postponed. That's when they fixed Aug 12 as the release date," Dil Raju said, adding that he asked Nikhil and Chandoo to postpone their film to Aug 13 or prepone it to Aug 11 (given the release of 'Macherla Niyojakavargam').
Raju added, "In the meanwhile, some media people started targeting me for the sake of views and clicks. They know that if 'Dil Raju' is mentioned in the headline, they will get views. The media should have common sense. Why will anyone want to crush other's films? Please don't scapegoat me. I have always been patient. I am advised to stay calm by elders. Nikhil has been close to me since 'Happy Days'."
