Nikhil Siddharth has his fingers crossed as 'Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada' hits the screens on November 18. In this interview, he talks about why it's not a cliched horror, whether he believes in ghosts and more.

An experience for the silver screen:

'Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada' is big-screen experience and given that films are still the cheapest mode of entertainment, we hope people will watch it even in this situation of liquidity scarcity.

Not just two girls:

Only two girls - Nandita Swetha and Heebah Patel - are seen in the trailer and posters, but there is more in the film. It's a small surprise element; you will see some other girl also.

Not a cliched horror flick:

You don't find stock ideas like people getting scared inside a house and the possessed ones seen with a tanned make-up, etc in 'EPC'. Vi Anand has not infused the film with such routine stuff. There is horror, there is comedy, but essentially, our film is a love story with emotional content. Vennela Kishore's comedy will be enjoyed by all. He is a major entertainment factor.

A graphic designer for 'Baahubali':

I am playing a graphic designer working on 'Baahubali'. The pictures of Rajamouli garu, who is Tollywood's pride, are seen in the movie. There is a touch of humour around using him. As he is a public figure, we asked for his permission.

Vi Anand, a director to watch out for:

Vi Anand is a very good technician and I am glad he came to me with this offer. He could have gone to some other hero if he wanted to. The director has evoked horror in a classy way without resorting to cheap scare tactics. 'EPC' is a spine-chilling and fun experience.

I don't believe in ghosts:

There are arguments for and against belief in the existence of spirits. I personally don't believe in them. A girl in Germany suddenly started speaking in Telugu. She didn't even know that such a language existed. Yet, she spoke meaningful Telugu. Some may call it supernatural, some may think it's psychological disorder. My co-star Nandita told me she once saw a spirit during a shoot.

I don't want to lose goodwill:

There is no point in doing many films as the success of no film can be taken for granted, be it a 'Karthikeya' or any other film. As a young actor, I have to be mindful of the subjects I choose. By the way, I watch my film at the time of dubbing. I don't watch it again because I don't want to think about whether something could have been done better. I didn't watch even 'Swamy Ra Ra' after the release. I have continued that since then.

There was no delay at all:

Because we waited for 25 days for the DOP to be back and took another break for a few weeks, the film got delayed. It was never shelved for want of funds. Our producer is very rich. (Smiles). We didn't want to compromise anywhere on quality. 'EPC' has been shot with one of the rarest cameras.

No interference by me:

I am only doing promotions so that it helps the film. I am never the one who stretches myself into the director's work. Ask the director if you want. Up-and-coming projects:

My film with Sudheer Varma is done to the extent of 40 per cent. We have shot in Amalapuram and Rajahmundry, among others. Chandoo Mondeti recently narrated a sequel to 'Karthikeya' and it's better than the first edition. That will be there after he has done with his current assignment.
