I am waiting to fulfil my dream with Pawan Kalyan: Dil Raju

  • IndiaGlitz, [Saturday,June 25 2016]

Ace producer Dil Raju is on a roll. Only yesterday, he announced two crazy projects: the Trivikram Srinivas-Ram Charan film, and the Harish Shankar-Allu Arjun one.

In this interview, the industry biggie talks about his forthcoming release 'Rojulu Marayi', the film's subject, why he is co-producing movies of late, when his dream film with Pawan Kalyan is going to happen, the fate of 'Shathamanam Bhavathi' and more.

Why did you want to produce 'Rojulu Marayi' with Maruthi?

Maruthi discussed with me the idea one day. I liked it even then. When he came to me with the full narration, I wanted to co-produce the film with him. I like his style of story-telling. 'Rojulu Marayi' has come out very well. Since I liked the story, I wanted to present it.

Does the film talk about how some girls are in today's times?

The film dwells on that point at a time when social media has become ubiquitous. But that doesn't mean that girls are portrayed in a poor light in this film. I am conscious of the fact that girls expect healthy stuff from my banner. They patronise all our films. We have just tried to portray the reality as it is.

You must have watched 'Rojulu Marayi'. What did you feel?

The first half is 75 minutes. I didn't detect any flaws in this part. The second half is 70 minutes. I ensured that the content was trimmed by 15 mins.

Why are you making films in association with other directors/producers these days?

There are two reasons. One is that I have manpower and I can afford such collaborations. Thanks to Sirish and Harshith sharing responsibilities, I am in a position to do more films. Second, even if I want to do two small films, I don't have the time to finalize scripts. So, collaborating with others when I like a concept.

Some times, your judgement goes wrong. Why so?

I keep observing the audience's tastes and preferences. That's why, 90 per cent of the times, I am correct. But 10 per cent of the time, I go wrong. That's how films like 'Krishnashtami' come. I am the reason why that film flopped.

When is your movie with Nani going on floors?

Nani's film with Trinadharao Nakkina will commence from this August. The film will hit the screens in December.

When is the movie with Pawan Kalyan happening?

It's my dream to do a film with him. I always keep trying to materialize my dream. That may or may not happen. I have to see when it's going to happen.

You had plans to release 'Shathamanam Bhavathi' for Sankranthi. But there is huge competition for the season.

I am making this film with Sharwanand in the direction of Satish Vegesna. We will release it as Sankranthi gift on Jan 14. This is a Sankranthi festival film. So, it will be released for that season come what may.
