'Butta Bomma', set to hit the screens on January 26, is Anikha Surendran's most important project. After years of dabbling in the Malayalam and Tamil industries as a child artist, she is all set to become a lead actress in Telugu with 'Butta Bomma'. Known for Ajith's 'Viswasam' (Tamil) and Nagarjuna's 'The Ghost', she is a promising youngster with loads of enthusiasm.

The actress says that she is in talks for multiple projects in Telugu as well as Tamil and Malayalam. She is more than elated to be starting her career in Telugu with Sithara Entertainments, which is known for blockbusters such as 'Jersey'.

In this interview, the actress says that her role in 'Butta Bomma' is a far cry from that in 'The Ghost'. She is at the centre of the plot, and got to shoot for scenes without the presence of Arjun Das and Surya Vasishtta for 20 days. That goes to show that the film has got a meaty role for her.

Highlights of what she said in today's interview:

It has been almost 15 years since I started acting. Acting-wise, there is not much change that I am finding from then and now. I am thankful that I have got to act in different languages and with so many talents. 'The Ghost' (2022) is my first film in Telugu.

'Butta Bomma' came my way a day after I watched 'Kappela' (the Malayalam original). It was a no-brainer that I had to do the film. Satya, my character, is a performance-oriented role. I watched the original a couple of times and that was my reference point. Then I had the director who gave me specific instructions. He was very sure that I didn't need to copy what the actress in the original did. He let me have my own take. I understood the character, where she comes from, etc.

The film is directed by Shouree Chandrasekhar T Ramesh. He was encouraging always. As for Sithara Entertainments, I feel comfortable working with them. Anything I do in Telugu from now, they have my back.

I had to mug up my lines in Telugu. My co-stars, Surya and Arjun Das, were very cooperative. Initially, it was difficult to speak Telugu. Unlike Tamil, it's a completely alien language to me. I picked up the lines with the help of ADs. They wanted me to speak in authentic Telugu.

For me, monologues are a little easier because you get your space. Little lines that are followed by others' dialogues are not so easy.

'Oh, My Darling' in Malayalam is coming up next. In Tamil and Telugu, there are a few projects. I am lucky that all my debut projects as a heroine in all languages are happening this year.
