Sher Bahadur, a 77-year old man from Nepal, was working at a bar in Hyderabad's Lalapet. A poor migrant worker, he was found dead on the roadside near Narayanaguda.
The incident has come as a shocker for several reasons. The deceased man had gone to a PHC in King Koti after he developed fever and cold. He was referred to Gandhi Hospital, where he went to get tested for COVID-19. After his medical condition was checked, the old man was asked to wait for an ambulance to pick him up. It's not known what crossed his mind, but he escaped from the hospital.
Many hours later, he died on Friday night by the roadside. His body was discovered 12 hours later. The police found slips related to COVID-19 testing in his pocket after his body was recovered at YMCA X Roads.
A report says that the old man's body was wrapped up in plastic sheets for safety reasons. The body was picked up by health workers several hours after it was discovered.
