We had recently reported that actor Ram Charan had temporarily halted the shooting of Acharya as he was staying by the side of his uncle and actor Pawan Kalyan, who contracted the infection of COVID-19 last week. The latest update is that Charan, who is also bankrolling the film, has called off the ongoing Hyderabad schedule abruptly after his co-star and actor Sonu Sood tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Initially, Ram Charan alone wanted to take a break from the shoot for three-four days as he was attending Pawan Kalyan at his farmhouse.
After he came across the news of Sonu Sood infected by the virus, he was concerned over the safety of the unit members and has decided to suspend the shooting without any second thought. "Charan is someone who treats the cast and crew of his films like a family and he doesn't let anyone suffer despite the fact that the production gets delayed. He has called off the entire schedule and the shooting might resume once the situation limps back to normalcy," says a source close to the development.
The recently suspended schedule has commenced without Chiranjeevi as the latter is not stepping out of his home following the second wave of COVID-19. Directed by Koratala Siva, Acharya was slated to release on May 13, but the film has been postponed indefinitely due to various undisclosed reasons. Also featuring Kajal Aggarwal and Pooja Hegde, the film has music by Mani Sharma.
