Thursday evening witnessed severe rains lashing parts of Hyderabad. In Peerzadiguda, a woman and her 2-month-old infant accidentally fell into an open pit, which was filled up with rainwater. Alert passers-by came to their rescue and pulled them out from the dangerous situation.
The incident is a stark reminder that uncovered manholes continue to pose a heavy risk during rains in cities like Hyderabad. "No matter how many such tragic incidents happen, civic authorities continue to be negligent. Why don't government officials and public representatives see these as pressing concerns? Is it because they are callous?" an angry resident of the locality was seen asking on a TV channel.
Shocking cctv footage of a mother and her child falling into an uncovered manhole in Peerzadiguda. Both of them were rescued. But this is criminal negligence! #Hyderabad pic.twitter.com/WIbCAv1gNl
