Hyderabad: Police book supermarket manager, guards over racism

The Rachakonda Police have booked the manager and security guards of a supermarket in Vanasthalipuram for not letting two individuals in because of their prejudice against North-Easterners. Even though the individuals showed their Aadhar cards, they were not allowed to shop at the supermarket because they looked "foreign". Even though the individuals pointed out that it was racism, the guards didn't mend their ways.

Following a complaint on Twitter, an FIR was registered under Sections 153,188, 341 of the IPC against the store manager and two guards of Star Market at Vansthalipuram Police Station. "The accused are in our custody. We regret the incident. Police will not tolerate such an act. In case of any problem dial 100 or 9490617234," the police said.

N Biren Singh, the Chief Minister of Manipur, thanked the police for the swift action. "Northeast people are guarding you and other Indian people at the border with Myanmar and China," he tweeted out.
