Dr. Bonthu Rammohan, the Mayor of Hyderabad, is alleged to have got plots worth Rs 100 Cr grabbed through his proxies. As per a report published by Deccan Chronicle, "proxies of Bonthu Rammohan have grabbed two acres of prime land worth at least Rs 100 crore near Narsingi, by forcibly evicting the owners."
Quoting an FIR at the Narsingi police station lodged on June 9 by the victims of the land grab, the news report says that "four people and their henchmen encroached the plots, erected a container, damaged the CCTVs and threatened the guards, besides snatching their mobiles."
After the aggression, the report says, the cronies "then put up boards claiming ownership of the land."
"This modus operandi of creating disputes over NRI-owned or senior citizens' plots and forcibly taking unlawful possession was a common feature of Hyderabad and outskirts till two decades ago," the investigative report asserts.
The Mayor didn't react to the report at the time of writing.
