Hyderabad man to be booked for triple talaq over WhatsApp

Mohammed Shareef, who works as a Principal at a private school in Hyderabad, has been accused by his wife Sumaya Bhanu of giving her 'triple talaq' over a WhatsApp call. The duo got married in 2017 and very soon, disputes developed between them. Shareef has been accused of ill-treating Bhanu.

The police have reportedly swung into action on the basis of the victim's complaint. Shareef gave the 'talaq' in November last. However, the Parliament passed the law criminalizing TT only recently. If the law is applied to arrest Shareef retrospectively, he will be the first man in Telangana to be dealt with by the new anti-Triple Talaq law.
