The CCTV footage of an elderly woman in Hyderabad being brutally beaten by her daughter-in-law and her mother has surfaced online.

The incident happened in Feroz Gandhi Nagar on Thursday, where a woman was seen dragging another woman, identified as 55-year-old Tashnima Sultana, out of the house by her hair. She was then seen slapping and punching her before being joined by another woman, who joined her in the attack. The two woman were later identified as Tashnima's daughter-in-law and her mother. The police reportedly mentioned that both of them have registered complaints against one another, accusing the other of physical abuse. "I had also filed police complaints against her about her earlier attacks," Tashnima said, as quoted by a news agency. "My son, who is working in Saudi Arabia, married her via phone in 2018. Almost a year later, he came to India and stayed with her for a month and then returned to Saudi Arabia. In the two-and-a-half-years, she has assaulted me several times," she added.

The argument on Thursday happened because the power and water supply to the daughter-in-law's house (on the first floor of the building) had been cut off by the mother-in-law. The enraged young woman and her mother then allegedly decided to attack Tashnima. The station house officer of the concerned police station reportedly said, "We also visited their house and made a partition to ensure that they don't come face to face every day. Both of them have filed complaints of assault against each other several times earlier. They both have advocates who represent them in the court."
