As reported earlier, on Sunday evening, an avoidable tragedy had consumed a precious life. Mounika, a 24-year-old techie working for the TCS in Hyderabad, succumbed to a fatal injury minutes after a concrete chunk of wall plaster fell on her at the famous Ameerpet Metro station.
The news is that the victim's family will be given monetary compensation of Rs 20 lakh by L&T, the construction company. It's learned that negotiations went between the victim's family and the company earlier today. It was decided that L&T would pay the compensation. A statement to this effect has been made by the Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail.
Reacting to the news, a social media user lashed out, saying, "No matter what, a precious life has been snuffed out. It's a loss that nobody can repair for the bereaved family. The incident should become an opportunity for civic activities, government and infrastructure companies to set their house in order."
