A 19-year-old man from Hyderabad has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the crime of having "unnatural sex" with a 10-year-old boy and killing the victim. The crime took place in the year 2017 and the criminal was 17 at that time.
The accused has been given the punishment under the Protection of Children From Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant sections of the IPC. Early reports say that this is the first time in India that a juvenile offender (the guilty was 17 when he committed the crime but is now an adult) has been given life imprisonment for raping and killing a minor.
The criminal took the 10-year-old boy to a building near a government school and had forcible anal intercourse with him. After raping the boy, he brutally killed him. When the police started a probe, he confessed to killing the boy.
