It's a common refrain to jovially tell someone to go and reserve their slot by throwing in a handkerchief. The kerchief is an everyday metaphor that signifies that something is assured to be ours if we use it to get the 'booking' done.
With liquor shops opening in Hyderabad from Wednesday, the handkerchief and other items have come to the rescue of alcohol consumers. "Ever heard of putting a kerchief on a bus seat? Well, the same concept, outside a wine shop in Hyderabad (was seen today). Awaiting the opening of shops after a dry spell of over 40 days," says Times Now journalist Paul Oomen, sharing a video clip of the same.
The peculiar incident comes with a piece of good news as well. The path leading up to the liquor shop is seen with markings to facilitate social distancing.
