Sri Harsha Konuganti, the director of 'Hushaaru', is a happy man. His bromantic comedy has completed 50 days. In this interview, he talks about the success, his next projects and more.
Has done it in 30 centres
It's not a small thing that a film has crossed 50 days in theatres. We are very happy that 'Hushaaru' has completed 50 days successfully. We are going to interact with audiences in the 30 centres where our film has pulled off this feat.
Youths have loved it the most
Our target audiences were youth. The BO performance shows that we reached our target. Many youngsters have watched our comedy repeatedly. Even on social media, the response has been totally positive.
There are four major characters in the story. One or the other character is very relatable to one and all. I have seen many people recognizing me as the director of 'Hushaaru'. They are telling me how they have connected with the proceedings in the movie. The audiences' reactions mean everything.
'Hushaaru' could duck competition
So many in the industry have called me up to congratulate me on the content. The fact that our movie has withstood the competition from big movies (Sankranthi releases) says it all.
Budget did shoot up
It all started with the thought, what would happen if youngsters are jobless at the age of 25. The scenes mirror the thinking of the current generation. We started out with less budget. Even though it was made under controlled budget, the cost shot up. We could shoot for just five days in a month. These days, it's so hard to make the audience come and watch your movie in the theatre. They are accepting only those movies which have something unique.
'Undiporaadhey' has worked big time
The 'Undiporaadhey' song has worked really great. The heroine wants to move to the US but the hero requests her to stay with him. Radhan's music for the situation is soulful, so also Sid Sriram's rendition. I am happy that it has become such a big hit. Even Allu Arjun garu has tweeted about the song.
Next projects
I am writing two stories at the moment. My next project is going to be with a notable banner. One of the movies is a clean 'U' movie for sure. It's an inspirational one. It's true that 'Hushaaru' is being remade in Tamil and Hindi. I did get the offer to wield the megaphone but I couldn't.
