On Friday, Nayanthara and her husband Vignesh Shivan visited the Tirumala temple a day after their wedding in order to offer prayers there. The couple also participated in the marriage 'seva utsav'. The gorgeous actress was wearing a stunning yellow saree while her loving hubby was in a traditional white shirt and dhoti. News emerged that the 'Sye Raa' actress was wearing footwear in a restricted area in the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam. This has since hogged headlines. With Nayan courting controversy, her husband has stepped in.
Shivan has issued a statement sincerely apologizing for the same. He spoke of his and his wife's devotion towards Lord Venkateswara, adding that they had tried their best to get married in Tirumala. In the past one month, they paid repeated visits to Tirumala for the same reason.
"In the hurry for a quick picture, we didn't realize we had our footwear on. We are a couple who go to temples regularly and have immense faith in God. We have been to Tirumala almost five times in the past 30 days, trying to do our wedding there. We sincerely apologize to those who could have been offended. We mean no disrespect to the Lord who we love," Shivan said.
