Violating social distancing norms, hundreds of students and parents gathered outside a Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) examination centre in Pattom of Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday. Reportedly, there were nearly 500 people reached the place, a containment zone.
Despite the rapid rise in coronavirus cases and clusters in the state, the government held KEAM entrance tests for 1.03 lakh students in multiple centres. It was a panic situation among the residents of the area after the huge rush appeared the centre and nearby areas since the morning without adhering to the social distancing and other Covid-19 protocols.
It may be noted that the incident took place in Thiruvananthapuram city, which has been under a triple lockdown due to the alarming rise in COVID-19 infections through contact spread. The photos and videos of the crowd surfaced on social media.
On Thursday, Kerala recorded its highest single-day spike of 722 new active Covid-19 cases. The state currently records a total of 5,372 active cases.
