A huge blast, involving the explosion of 5kg of explosives, has killed seven and killed 120 at a mosque-cum-religious school in Pakistan's Peshawar. This is one of the worst terror attacks the country has witnessed over the years.
Soon after the ghastly attack, Pak Prime Minister Imran Khan said that he has been deeply saddened by the terrorist attack. "My condolences go to the victims' families & prayers for early recovery of the injured. I want to assure my nation we will ensure the terrorists responsible for this cowardly barbaric attack are brought to justice asap," he wrote.
Senior journalist Syed Talat Hussain tweeted that the Peshawar terror attack on a religious seminary shows how precarious the state of security is. "A government obsessed with demonizing opponents and a security apparatus invested in saving the govt makes an ideal situation for terrorism to resurge," he added.
Hussain Nadim, Executive Director of IPRI, wrote, "The enemy has been bombing our schools and children but let’s put on a blindfold and act like the enemy doesn’t exist."
A senate member wrote, "Rise in terrorist activities is seriously concerning, specially when Federal Ministers have prior information of such incidents and security measures are not taken. Thoughts and prayers with the victims and their families."
