The 'Howdy Modi' event in Houston, United States, saw Narendra Modi and Donald Trump share the dais for an unprecedented gathering. It was a super successful event that saw the presence of enthusiastic NRIs and Indian-Americans in large numbers.
Speaking on the occasion, Trump said that India has "never invested in the Unites States like it is doing today, and I want to say it is reciprocal because we are doing the same thing in India".
He touched upon jihadi terrorism and received a standing ovation from Modi. "We will protect our citizens from radical Islamist terrorism. We must protect our borders," Trump said.
He added that ‘Tiger Triumph’ will be the first big tri-service military exercise between India and the US later in 2019.
"Very soon India will have to access to another world class American product-NBA basketball. Wow, sounds good. Next week thousands in Mumbai will watch the first ever NBA game in India..am I invited Mr. Prime Minister? I may come, be careful I may come," Trump added with a touch of humour.
"I want to respectfully thank a great man, a great leader, my friend Prime Minister Modi," he signed off after highlighting his administration's commitment to address illegal immigration.
In his speech, Modi heaped praises on Trump, saying that he has made the American economy strong and is committed to making it great again.
